As far as 'what the book says,' you can skip certain passages by using an ellipsis (...) and then pick up with an important passage later in the page. Your 'what I say' portion should explain, react, or comment on the passage you have chosen. Look at the example in the yellow packet for guidelines. Let me know if you still have questions.
ReplyDeleteUpon further review, I don't think I answered Bernie's question. Let me try again....You can just "sum up" a character's actions, but be sure that you are being specific about what the character did or didn't do that you agree or disagree with. I hope that makes more sense.
