Catch -22

Alright so far this book is not my favorite. At all. I'm a little over 70 pages in and as of now I'm not seeing much of a plot. My dad recently read this book and he said it gets better as you get into it, and I'm hoping that this will be the case. Yossarian is an interesting character and difficult to figure it out. But hopefully more will be revealed as the book goes on. I'm looking forward to getting farther into the book.

  1. From what I have been able to gather, the book isn't focused so much on a plot than it is focused on the relationships between the characters and the characters themselves. the individual descriptions of the characters drives the story's plot forward, though it may not be explicitly clear. I don't know if my observations are right or not, but I started getting into the book at around page 50 after I realized that I had to stop waiting for something to happen and focus on the "here and now" of the book.

  2. There are some underlying symbols and themes which we will discuss in greater depth when school resumes in September. A general plot is Yossarian's struggle to get out of serving in the war and doing it in a way that doesn't harm his future prospects and doesn't make him feel like he is abandoning his friends. Each chapter is devoted to a person and that person's relationship/interaction between Yossarian. Keep pressing on...it makes much more sense at the end...or at least a little more sense anyway!
