while reading...

I have noticed Pride and Prejudice is very similar to the play we read at the end of English 11. I keep getting confused between the two books. I think it's the way they talk because they are quite similar in that way... am I alone in this? lol

  1. Well I'm not getting confuzed, but I think they're similar. It almost feels like deja`vu when they're all at Bingley's.

  2. Many of the elements of "Earnest" and "P&P" are very much the same: awkward social interactions between love interests, absurd conversation, dry humor, elaborate social events (teas, dinners, etc) social calls to places like Shropshire, Netherfield Park, Hertfordshire, etc...)

The social scenes can be a bit convuluted with all the dialogue and people complimenting and observing each other. This will make for terrific discussion when we convene as a class in September.
